Peru will have an Intellectual Property Policy

On July 24th, the recently created Multisectorial Council started its meetings to elaborate a policy related to the intellectual property in Peru; adopting the representation of all actors related to the intellectual property endeavour in the country.
One of its principal functions will be to provide strategic recommendations, general action line-ups and approve the final version of the national policy and also will be in charge to promote the incorporation of the intellectual property policy in both actions and programs related with the sector.
It is expected that this policy will become a keystone in the national economy generating development in this sector thru creativity and innovation and ensuring a fair compensation to all the innovators.
It will have the participation of the Indecopi as well as authorities from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Trades and Tourism, the Ministry of Production, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign affairs, the National Council of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (CONCYTEC), the Peruvian Commission for the promotion of exports and tourism, the Commerce Chamber of Lima, the Pontificia Universidad Catolica (PUCP)and the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria (UNI). It also has the counselling of the Intellectual Property World Organization (OMPI) and the technical assistance of Nacional Center for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN).
