Intellectual Property in Peru: Indecopi Committed to the Modernity and Innovation of its Services

秘鲁国家竞争和知识产权保护局（Indecopi） has undertaken the commitment to strengthen the intellectual property system in Peru through the signing of agreements with the World Intellectual Property Organization and other counterpart offices. These agreements were finalized within the framework of the 68th Assembly of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) which took place from July 6 to 8 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Peru Signs International Agreements to Benefit its Intellectual Property Initiatives

The promotion of modernity, innovation, competitiveness, and the protection of creativity are initiatives contemplated in the agreements and commitments signed by the National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) in its quest to consolidate an intellectual property system that fosters development in Peru. A prominent aspect is the agreement signed with WIPO, which allows them to modernize their service with AI tools such as WIPO PATCAT and WIPO Translate , which allows them to modernize their service with AI tools such as

Likewise, Peru has become the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to adhere to the Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge. This instrument seeks to protect the genetic resources and traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples and local communities.

High-Level Meetings with Authorities of National Intellectual Property Offices

Part of the agenda of 秘鲁国家竞争和知识产权保护局（Indecopi） included meetings with authorities and representatives of government agencies from various countries to promote cooperation initiatives and foster projects that strengthen the protection of intellectual property in Peru. Among the most relevant meetings, we can mention those held with the Ministry of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea (MOIP),, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO),the Japan Patent Office (JPO),the National Directorate of Intellectual Property of Paraguay (DINAPI), the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil (INPI Brazil) , and the National Institute of Industrial Property of Chile (INAPI)..
