Brazil: BRPTO Announces 800 Openings for the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Program in 2025

The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BRPTO) has just announced the launch of a new cycle of the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) program in Brazil, with 800 openings available. This program promotes international cooperation and streamlines the patent prosecution process in multiple jurisdictions. The PPH service allows applicants to benefit from prior work completed by other intellectual property offices, reducing waiting times and associated costs.
This new phase maintains the established eligibility requirements, such as having a patent application granted by a foreign intellectual property office before requesting accelerated examination in Brazil. If you are interested in registering a patent in Brazil, OMC Abogados & Consultores recommends that you begin the process as soon as possible, not only due to the number of available openings but also due to the slight increase in official fees imposed by the BRPTO, effective August 7th.
