INDECOPI granted Collective Trademarks to agricultural producers in Peru

The cooperation agreement signed by INDECOPI and Comision Nacional para el Desarrollo y sin Drogas: DE VIDA , by the end of 2014, has allowed that more than 800 producers of coffee, cocoa and its derivatives, properly organized in the Comite Central de Productores Agropecuarios de Anco (600 partners), Asociacion de Productores Agro-Industriales de Café Ecológico para el Mundo (210 partners) and Asociación Agroindustrial de Productores de Cafe Sumaq Ruro - Samugari (70 partners) can benefit by obtaining the first Collective Trademarks in Peru and whose names are : Kusty, Sisariq y Samugari.
The value of this distinction is that the farmers located in the Valley of the Apurimac River, Ene and Mantaro: VRAEM will be able to position and commercialize their product under equal conditions in the market.
It is noteworthy that collective trademarks are distinctive signs adopted by a legally constituted entity that brings together different members, who through these can distinguish their products or services harvested and processed.
