Indecopi has undertaken the commitment to strengthen the intellectual property system in Perú through the signing of agreements with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and other counterpart offices. These agreements were finalized within the framework of the 68th Assembly of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI) which took place from July 6 to 8 in Geneva, Switzerland.

El impulso a la modernidad, innovación, competitividad y protección a la creatividad son iniciativas contempladas en los convenios y compromisos firmados por el Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (Indecopi) in its quest to consolidate an intellectual property system that fosters development in Peru. Likewise, Perú has become the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to adhere to the Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge. This instrument seeks to protect the genetic resources and traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples and local communities.
High-Level Meetings with Authorities of National Intellectual Property Offices
Part of the agenda of Indecopi included meetings with authorities and representatives of government agencies from various countries to promote cooperation initiatives and foster projects that strengthen the protection of intellectual property in Peru. Among the most relevant meetings, we can mention those held with the Ministry of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea (MOIP),, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO),the Japan Patent Office (JPO),the National Directorate of Intellectual Property of Paraguay (DINAPI), the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil (INPI Brazil) , and the National Institute of Industrial Property of Chile (INAPI)..
