Peruvians register their wills with SUNARP

A will can be understood as the legal act by means of which a person freely expresses his or her will, leaving in writing and in a legal manner, who will become his or her heirs and who will be able to take possession of his or her assets partially or totally after his or her death.
In our country, until a few years ago, it was unusual for a living person to state in writing who would receive his or her assets and properties after death, but as a result of the pandemic, it has become a common practice.
Although there are several types of wills recognized by Peruvian law, the Public Deed is the most common and used; it only requires the participation of two citizens to assume the role of witnesses prior to the registration of the document in the Register of Wills of the Sunarp, becoming a guarantee of protection against third parties.
