Peru seeks to strengthen trust in the digital sector

In view of the increasing progress of the digital transformation of which both companies and citizens in general are participants, the authorities have found necessary to establish rules that allow, through sanctions, the strengthening of digital trust in Peru.
The function has been entrusted to a working group, convened by the PCM (Presidency of the Council of Ministers), whose main task is to analyze, evaluate and propose measures and actions to reduce cyber-attacks, the misuse of digital media, as well as the excessive non-consensual contact through telephone calls, messages or other means for fraudulent purposes.
The working group is made up of a representative of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Representatives of the Board of Directors of the Supervisory Body of Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel), the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) also participate in this working group. On behalf of the private sector, the Association for the Promotion of National Infrastructure (AFIN), the Association of Peruvian Banks (Asbanc), the Peruvian Foreign Trade Corporation (Comex), Telefónica del Perú S.A.A., América Móvil Perú S.A.C., Viettel Perú S.A.C. and Entel Perú S.A. participated in the meeting.
