Peru highlights the contribution of Intellectual Property during the 62nd WIPO Assembly

In the framework of the 62nd edition of the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr. Julio Palacín, the highest authority in the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property: Indecopi, highlighted the importance of having an efficient Intellectual Property System as a way to generate economic, social and cultural developments in Peru.
Hence, its commitment to incorporate the small and medium businesses, as well as the rural productive sector, in the current practices and in the use of intellectual property tools that, in addition to provide protection for their creations and the development of their innovations, it will also become a source of profit.
Another point to highlight is the topic of distinctive signs, specifically collective marks, to which a high level of importance has been assigned due to the social and historical character that precedes them and that allows peoples and communities to perpetuate customs, ancestral knowledge and old traditions from Peru.
