Peru experiences an increase in the number of applications filed for trademark registration

Indecopi announced that during the period between January and September 2021, 31,475 applications were filed, of which 28,133 already have their corresponding certificate. Compared to the same period of last year, this figure represents an increase of 19.3% in the number of applications submitted.

This result is closely linked to the campaigns that Indecopi has been promoting in favor of entrepreneurs and MSEs, informing them about the benefits of having a registered trademark and the impact it generates in the economic reactivation of the market.

In the period March 2020 - September 2021, the food products category is the one that showed the highest number of registered trademarks: 5,693, followed by pharmaceutical products with 4,946, advertising and commercial business management with 3,843, clothing with 3,386 and retail services. Education and entertainment with 3,258 certifications.
