Official trademark and patent fees adjusted in Brazil

Adjustment of official fees for various services, including trademark applications, which will increase by 24.1% to 50%.
Suspension of grant fee payments, both for local applications and for the second-part fees on Brazilian designations under the Madrid Protocol..
Reduction in processing times for trademark applications, as well as in operating costs.
Elimination of the risk of abandonment, even after grant fees have been paid.
In addition, trademarks will now benefit from new services such as:
Priority examination with fee exemption, applicable only to low-income Brazilian citizens and individuals with disabilities.
Priority for proceedings that promote innovation and reduce judicial disputes.
50% discount on fees, available exclusively to Brazilian citizens.
Acceptance of distinctive signs that have acquired distinctiveness through use.
Simplified opposition, limiting objective claims regarding conflicts with registered trademarks.
