Indecopi updates its virtual catalogue of literary Works

As of April, Indecopi's virtual catalogue was increased with 1,773 new titles by national and international authors by reaching the status of Literary Works in the Public Domain, which was certified by the Directorate of Copyright and the National Library of Peru (BNP). According to Peruvian law, all works are protected for as long as the author remains alive and for 70 years after his or her death.
In the case of a work in the public domain, there is no need to grant prior authorisation or to receive royalties for its use. The reproduction, distribution, adaptation, transformation, dissemination and even translation of the content of the work is also authorised, which is a great incentive for publishing, film and theatre ventures.
Among the authors we can mention the names of Ricardo Palma, César Vallejo, Juana Alarco de Dammert, Federico Basadre, José Santos Chocano, Garcilaso de la Vega, Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Pedro Calderón de la Barca, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Antón Chejov, Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, Alexander Von Humboldt among others.
