Comptroller General of the Republic and Superintendent of the SBS are authorized to lift bank secrecy

Despite being a fundamental right of a person, both the Comptroller General of the Republic and the Superintendent of Banking, Insurance and AFP were legitimately authorized, by the Constitution and Regulation Commission of Congress, to lift banking secrecy and Tax reserve of all citizens who are suspected of committing acts of corruption, money laundering and financing of terrorism.

The Comptroller General of the Republic, will be able to make use of his new power, in case of a control action directed to officials and public servants who administer or manage funds of the State or of organizations supported by it in the three levels of government, while the Superintendent of Banking, Insurance and AFP may only do so for specific financial intelligence purposes.
